Welcome to your monthly rundown of Radiology news and updates. July has been yet another incredibly busy month in the world of radiology and medical imaging, so be sure to read on for the headlines.
EU AI Act Published
One of the biggest stories in Europe in July was the ‘EU AI Act‘ being published. This landmark regulation will impact all Radiology AI companies in their development, impacting everything from regulatory compliance to ethical considerations. This act comes into force on August 1st, 2024, with provisions gradually following over the next 3 years.
July’s FDA Approvals
On the topic of regulatory compliance, there have been several FDA approvals/clearances announced in July:
Subtle Medical received approval for their AI-powered synthetic imaging software – ‘SubtleSYNTH’.
Hyperfine | AI-Powered Portable MRI announced clearance for their 9th general AI-powered ‘Swoop’ MRI system.
Milvue announced FDA clearance for their ‘Smartchest’ chest X-Ray solution.
Funding Updates
It’s been a great month for Subtle Medical as they announced $30m Series B funding to accelerate their global expansion and the launch of new AI-products.
deepc also raised a $13m Series A extension, taking their total funding to $30m.
The general feeling around investment in Radiology and MedTech as a whole, is the best I’ve seen in several years.
We’re not looking at 2021 levels just yet, but steps in the right direction for sure.
Partnerships & Acquisitions
It’s also been a busy few weeks for partnerships and acquisitions.
Flywheel.io announced their partnership with Mint Medical, combining their platforms to enhance data management and analysis across more sites and trials.
Annalise.ai confirmed a partnership with Raya Diagnostics, with them becoming the first teleradiology provider in the DACH region to integrate their solution.
Just last week Gleamer announced their partnership with Siemens Healthineers, now offering their ‘Boneview’ AI solution as part of the Siemens Digital Marketplace.
And it wouldn’t be an update on collaborations, if deepc hadn’t added another AI partner to their ‘deepcOS’ platform. This time that partner was Paris based PAIRE in the nuclear medicine space.
