Welcome to the slightly delayed, May edition of The Radiology Rundown.

May provided a flurry of news, updates and changes in the world of medical imaging, which I’ll try to summarise here.

UKIO 2025

I returned from UKIO, the UK’s premier radiology conference this week (yes, I know it’s June), with plenty of updates and insight on the market.

The first conference I ever attended back in 2017, and it’s still delivering today. It’s one of the smaller events on the calendar, but it’s still the perfect opportunity to network with everyone involved in the UK market. Who in my experience, are typically some of the most passionate and knowledgeable individuals you could hope to meet in the radiology world.

The general consensus across the show floor seems to be that the sales of capital equipment in the first half of 2025 has been slow, but depending on government announcements and policy, there is optimism for the 2nd half of 2025 and into 2026.

The UK radiology market is making good headway in AI through the work of companies like Annalise.ai, and although there was a reduced presence of AI companies exhibiting at UKIO this year, many of the key leaders from those companies were in attendance.

FDA / Market Approvals

Gleamer announced CE clearance for Bone CT, their first CE-cleared CT application.

Hyperfine | AI-Powered Portable MRI received FDA clearance for their Otive AI software for Swoop.

Subtle Medical confirmed their Health Canada approval for Subtle HD

Funding

A quieter month on funding announcements, but from all the meetings I’m having across the PE/VC world right now, I would expect this to change in the 2nd half of 2025.

I’m at HLTH Europe in Amsterdam later this month, if this is something you’d like to discuss further.

Rad AI received an $8m Series C extension from four major health systems, taking their total Series C to $68m. Finnish start-up

AIATELLA secured €2m funding in the cardiovascular AI space.

Partnerships

Plenty of interesting partnerships and collaborations were announced this week involving:

Intelerad and RADPAIR

RamSoft X Therapixel

Enlitic X GE HealthCare

Konica Minolta Healthcare Americas, Inc. X NewVue.ai

INCEPTO x Coreline Soft

Exo X Samsung Medison
